I love teaching art!

I can't believe it's November 23rd.  This school year has FLOWN by! I have loved every minute of it.  I am learning so much - - guaranteed I am learning more from my students this year than they are probably learning from me.  So far these students have taught me:
a) that there is no limit on the amount of hugs I can get in one day
b) that they will always exceed my expectations on what they create (oh, to have a child's imaginative brain! I envy it.)
c) that Lincoln Logs will always be a hot commodity (I have them available for the kids to build with during free time, and they LOVE them.)
d) that I am, quite possibly, the luckiest art teacher in the world to be working with such wonderful, hilarious, creative children, and the most supportive staff I have ever met!

The reason I started this blog on blogspot is because it was way too hard (at least for me) to upload pictures on my previous website... so I'm doing this to help keep parents in the know, and show glimpses of what your children are creating in my classroom!  As well as share funny stories and sweet nothings I will often receive from my students.  I love my job.

This year the specialist team's goal is to help our students become culturally proficient.  Studying and creating art from different cultures around the world is something I am so, so excited about, as I am someone that loves to travel!  Our plan is to study and create art from:
1st quarter - the Americas (Native American & Central American Art)
2nd quarter - Asia (specifically China and India)
3rd quarter - Africa and the Middle East
4th quarter - Europe
